Mike Danzi, Legacy Chairman and CEO said, The creation of Legacy marks a step change in direction for the Humacao and Basel sites, enabling each of these sites to capitalize on its competitive advantages. Our core competencies support our mission of customer-focused contract manufacturing of large and small volume products. Legacy is also seeking to expand its ownership and licensing of difficult to produce niche drugs.
Humacao specializes in high volume contract manufacturing and packaging of over-the-counter and prescription drugs, oral solids (capsules and tablets), semi-solids (i.e. topical creams) and liquids (i.e. oral syrups).
The Basel facility specializes in sterile parenterals, as well as semi-solids. Products include sterile injectibles, creams and ointments.
Danzi added, At Humacao, our goal is to increase capacity utilization by winning manufacturing and packaging contracts from large pharmaceutical companies, who are increasingly outsourcing production. In addition, we expect to take advantage of the continued growth of generic drugs. Our mission is to provide customer focused FDA and Swiss Medic approved contract manufacturing to reduce our customers cost of goods sold.
While Legacy is a new company, all Legacy employees and managers have worked together at the previous owner. This team has worked together in the buyout process and in setting this new strategic direction for the sites and brands. It is an exciting time for our industry and for everyone involved in Legacy," Danzi concluded.
